Caroline & Ethan

Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

We got married on the Cortina Golf Course with breathtaking views of the Dolomites surrounding us. One of the peaks behind us during our ceremony happened to be where we got engaged in 2023 (Tofana di Mezzo). The day unfolded beautifully. We had our coffee and breakfast together that morning and then got ready separately as neither of us had seen the other’s suit and dress. Ethan picked Caroline’s bouquet from the garden across from our hotel. We caught a beautiful sunny break in the previous two weeks of rain and the continued rain after we left (we can’t help but think Caroline’s late mother had something to do with that sunshine). Our officiant was our friend, Alex, and our witnesses were our friends, Kaylee and Luca.

Alex wrote an incredible speech and we laughed and cried reading our vows to one another. We had surprise letters from family members read throughout the day that reminded us of the love and support we are so grateful to be surrounded by. We celebrated with an incredible spread of Italian cuisine made by a local chef and sipped prosecco and limoncello taking in the moment. We felt so present, so much joy, and so much love throughout the entire day. We could not be more grateful to have found one another and feel so lucky to be joining our lives, family, and friends by becoming Mr. and Mrs. Carter.

We were blown away by the hospitality of not only the golf club staff but of Cortina in general. The hotel staff who felt genuinely just as excited as we were and helped with anything and everything we needed; the local dry cleaner, Matteo, who graciously agreed to steam Caroline’s dress and press Ethan’s suit the night before our wedding and hand-delivered to us the morning of; our photographer, Maria Martus, who we found a week before our trip and captured the beauty, love, and essence of our day through photos better than we could have ever imagined; and Chef Pier Luigi whose passion brought so much joy to our day (and tastebuds). Cortina is a truly special place in our hearts and will continue to be a destination for us for years to come.
